I tend to rely on the same style of writing as I always have:
Outline my main points -> Expand on main points -> Add quotes and citations -> Make sure the first and last sentence of each paragraph correlate -> Make sure that the last sentence from each paragraph relates to the thesis -> Fix Grammar.
This “Road Map” of my writing style really made me realize how much of a creature of habit I am. I didn’t give it much thought until I wrote out how I write, and it is rather insightful. I feel that this way of writing suits me well, but I also should experiment with other ways of creating text. Outside of ENG 110, this process can be applied to lab reports as well, since my style of writing creates a very logical flow of ideas, which is perfect for scientific papers.
I can use this “map” of my writing style to proofread, and clarify any essays or writing assignments I have in the future. Again, this style of revising writing is logical, and it works well for me. This versatile revision style can be applied to nearly any writing assignment. Even before I realized that I used this specific revision process, I revised according to these steps. The style came naturally to me. Overall, this style of revision works for me, and I think that it has many useful benefits.
